With hurricane season underway consider getting ready for the possibility of flooding from tropical storms that by themselves create heavy rains, and may become hurricanes if the weather conditions are right. Flooding causes damage even on the fringes of the hurricane storm system because of the amount of rain that is typically dumped over land in a short period of time.
With this in mind consider whether you need to purchase flood insurance before your residence is damaged by rising waters from overflowing streams, rivers, and even storm draims. Check out the FloodSmart.gov site from this link.

Hurricane Season 2010
Hurricane Preparedness Week just ended and Hurricane Season starts on June 1 and runs through November 30, 2010 in the U.S. Hurricanes are regular seasonal threats that can affect a wide area of both coastal areas and those living farther inland. At least with a hurricane we receive up to a week of warning due to the hard work of the National Hurricane Center and Pacific Hurricane Center (part of NOAA).
